One of Only 7 Hospitals in New York State to Receive Top Rating

YONKERS NY (May 2025) – Saint Joseph’s Medical Center is pleased to announce that it is the only hospital in southern Westchester County and one of just seven in New York State to receive the CMS 5-star rating for cleanliness, according to Becker’s Hospital Review.
CMS’s Patient survey (HCAHPS)-Hospital database lists hospital ratings based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems surveys. The CMS Patient survey is a national, standardized survey of hospital patients about their experience during a recent inpatient hospital stay. The surveys were completed between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024. The data was most recently updated Jan. 8. Nationally, there are only 374 hospitals with 5-star cleanliness ratings.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have received this prestigious and significant national rating for cleanliness. Not only are we one of only seven in all of New York State to achieve this rating. We are also among a select group of hospitals nationwide with a five-star rating,” said Saint Joseph’s Medical Center President & CEO Michael J. Spicer. “This remarkable achievement is a testament to our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality health care for our patients,” he added.

Saint Joseph’s Medical Center is making a $20 million investment in a multi-phase project that includes a state-of-art orthopedic surgical robot, an extended Primary Care Center, newly renovated Emergency Department, a welcoming Lobby Area and renovation of the Radiology Department.

The hospital will soon announce that it is among the first in New York State to offer Aquablation® therapy with the new HYDROS™ Robotic System, the next-generation platform to treat men suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate.
