Yonkers, NY (June 2025) – Hispanic pride was on full display this past weekend at the Yonkers Puerto Rican Hispanic Parade and Festival, held on Sunday, June 1st, in downtown Yonkers. Luis Vasquez, General Manager of Environmental Services at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center, was named Ambassador for Health for this year’s festivities. A proud Dominican American who is married to a Puerto Rican, Vasquez embraces the values of family, culture, and community.
The free event was organized by the Yonkers Hispanic Cultural Foundation (YHCF) and brought thousands of people of all ages together for music, food, dancing, and merriment. Saint Joseph’s Medical Center was proud to be one of many local businesses and organizations supporting the Yonkers Puerto Rican Hispanic Parade and Festival. Vasquez rode a float sponsored by Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in the parade.
“As the 2025 Ambassador of the Yonkers Puerto Rican Hispanic Heritage Day Parade and Festival, I was honored to celebrate the unity, diversity, and vibrant spirit of the broader Hispanic community—while continuing to uplift Dominican and Puerto Rican pride and tradition,” said Vasquez.
A summa cum laude graduate of Monroe College with a degree in Healthcare Services Administration, Vasquez is recognized at Saint Joseph’s for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to excellence. As General Manager of Environmental Services, Vasquez has been responsible for maintaining an outstanding level of cleanliness at the hospital. Saint Joseph’s Medical Center recently announced it received a 5-star rating for cleanliness – the only hospital in southern Westchester County and one of just seven in New York State to receive the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 5-star rating for cleanliness. Nationally, there are only 374 hospitals with 5-star cleanliness ratings.
