A Celebration of Clinical Excellence and Innovation
YONKERS, NY (November 2024) — More than 500 friends and supporters of Saint Joseph’s Medical Center turned out for the Annual Ball to celebrate the evening’s honorees and pay tribute to the hospital’s extraordinary journey of renewal, expansion, and groundbreaking innovation.
Honorees for the black-tie event included orthopedic surgeons David E. Lent, MD, FAAOS and Eric Spencer, MD, FAAOS.
“Drs. Lent and Spencer have been members of our medical staff for over 20 years and joined St. Joseph’s Medical Practice in 2023. During that time, their dedication, expertise, and innovative spirit have not only advanced the field of orthopedic surgery at Saint Joseph’s but have also significantly enhanced the lives of countless patients in our community,” said Saint Joseph’s Medical Center President and CEO Michael J. Spicer. “Their commitment to providing the highest standard of care is evident in every aspect of their practice. They bring a wealth of knowledge, skill, and compassion to their patients, ensuring that each individual receives personalized and compassionate care. Their leadership and expertise in the area of advanced technology is a testament to their vision and commitment to pushing the boundaries of excellence in orthopedic surgery,” he added.
The hospital also honored New York Medical College, which became the university affiliate of Saint Joseph’s Family Practice Residency Program in 1998. The expertise and dedication of the faculty and staff of New York Medical College have been instrumental in enhancing the quality of care provided by the Program. Dr. Neil Schluger, Dean of New York Medical College’s School of Medicine, was presented with the award.
The gala celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the hospital’s Family Practice Residency Program. With 414 graduates to date, the alumni have spread across the country—from Westchester to small towns and rural communities. Many have pursued fellowships, while others have returned as educators, shaping the next generation of physicians in major medical centers and university hospitals.
Attendees enjoyed a night filled with joy, dancing, and camaraderie, united by a shared commitment to advancing healthcare excellence. The gala wasn’t just a night to remember; it was a vibrant testament to the hospital’s bright future and its unwavering dedication to delivering state-of-the-art care to our community.
