Biography
Patients deserve respect for their individuality, their life experiences, opinions and diversity. This basic humanistic tenet is essential for patients to be successful in their lives. Dr. Dorfman has a deeply rooted professional commitment to patients.
She believes it is her professional responsibility to “Put Patients First” to ensure their success. A motto that she has subscribed to during her 15 year tenure at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Dorfman is a doctorally-prepared Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and medication management. She is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Beck Institute.
She attained her Master of Science at Pace University and her Doctor of Philosophy at Rutgers University. Dr. Dorfman has extensive teaching experience and is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at Pace University in NY. She has several publications as well as presentations to her credit.
Dr. Dorfman specializes in adults with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders and eating disorders. Her approach is one that is collaborative with a focus on addressing negative thoughts that lead to negative feelings and subsequent undesirable behaviors. Medication management is a streamlined collaborative approach to assist individuals to achieve their best version of their self.
