Biography
Dr. Brown is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. She received her doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degree from Fairfield University in 2017. In fulfilment of her DNP, Dr. Brown developed a unit-based protocol, as quality improvement initiative, to reduce falls after electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Dr. Brown also holds bachelor’s degrees in biology and nursing. Prior to pursuing a DNP, Dr. Brown worked as a registered nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital Westchester and New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Brown completed extensive training in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. She provides mental health treatment services to children, adolescents, adults and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Dr. Brown returned to St. Vincent's in 2019 and currently serves as a treatment provider for the Outpatient Mental Health Service (OMHS). She is committed to patient care and professional development. She has a special interest in advancing psychiatric nursing practice through education, research and quality improvement projects. Her scholarly works have been published in academic journals.
